Mark Edelstein (Board Member)
Mark grew up in Cape Town, South Africa and received a B.Comm (Accounting ) from the University of Cape Town. He played local club soccer with distinction and represented Western Province on a number of occasions. He also represented South Africa in the Maccabi Games. He then got a soccer scholarship to study in the United States at Rutgers University (New Jersey) where he got a BA in Economics, followed by an MBA in Finance. Mark worked in the finance area for a number of commodity trading companies before working for the corporate finance team at Standard Bank in New York for 6 years. He left Standard Bank to start Auramet Trading with 3 partners in 2004. Auramet is a global precious metals trading house with over $22 billion in annual revenues.
Mark and his wife Patty, have been sizeable benefactors for many charitable organizations, both in the United States (Rutgers University - the men's soccer team has a scholarship in the Edelstein brother's names, Big Brothers Big Sisters , the Red Cross, Feeding America etc.) and South Africa (Mark's high school in Cape Town and Love to Langa) and has also been a treasurer for his local Elks, a board member of the Montgomery Education Foundation, a mentor for the Rutgers University MBA program and a soccer coach for the Special Olympics organization. Mark and Patty live in New Jersey and have two children. |
