CARMEN LENNON (Advisory Board Member)
Carmen is a communication professional with over 10 years experience in corporate communications, media relations and community relations. Currently working in Employee Communications with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Carmen has honed her communication skills working in the higher education, non-profit and pharmaceutical industries. Raised in Philadelphia, Carmen attended The Baldwin School before heading to the University of Pittsburgh to earn a degree in Political Science and Business.

Her time at Baldwin inspired a need to give back to her community which she fed by working at the Girl Scouts and mentoring young women through the Girls, Inc. organization and other programs. Carmen was recently given an opportunity to have an even bigger impact in her community on a global level by participating in the GSK PULSE volunteer program. This competitive program offers GSK employees an opportunity to use their skills working for a non-profit for 3-6 months but still receiving their salary and necessary living expenses from GSK. In June 2012, Carmen was matched with Direct Relief International, a medical non-profit with a mission to improve the health and lives of those impacted by poverty, disaster and civil unrest by providing medications and medical supplies to those would not otherwise be able to have access to them. She began her six month assignment working in at the organization’s headquarters developing the organization’s communication strategy, including social media, donor and internal communication.
